- Peel and chop onion. Grate ginger and tomato.
- Now heat ghee in a pan. Add cumin seeds and when cumin seeds splutter put chopped onions, grated ginger, asafetida and sauté till onion turn translucent. Add grated tomato and cook till oil leaves the sides. Add red chilli powder, whole red chilli, garam masala and mix.
- Pour this Tadka on dal and cook for 1 minute.
- Serve hot garnished with chopped coriander leaves with parantha or puri.
