The ingredients needed to make Chana Dal Halwa:
  1. Prepare Chana Dal 200 g (soaked over night)
  2. Prepare Sugar 350g approx
  3. Make ready 1 cup milk
  4. Get elaichi 6 - 7 peeled and powdered
  5. Prepare 200 g Ghee
  6. Make ready 4-5 tbsp Grated Coconut
  7. Get 8-10 Almonds
  8. Make ready cashews 7 to 8 chopped
Instructions to make Chana Dal Halwa:
  1. Dry soaked chana dal by spreading on towel completely.
  2. Take 4tbsp of ghee and heat in a pan now roast chana dal until nice crispy and golden brown.
  3. Now take out and let it cool down after than grind chana dal in grinder until powdered form.
  4. In a wok, boil milk and now add grinded chana dal and milk nicely so to avoid any lump.
  5. Add ghee in that mixture now and gently cook on low flame.
  6. While your halwa is under process,On other stove take a sauce pan start making sugar syrup(chashni) by adding sugar and water (it should be little more than sugar as we are it for halwa) until completely done,
  7. Come back to halwa,now add elaichi powder and cooked chashni carefully cover half with lid and pour in another half opened.
  8. Cook for at least half an hour, Keep stiring with spatula in between this time as it will otherwise burn and will stick to bottom of the pan.
  9. Add half Grated coconut and chopped cashews, Cook until it turns into nice shiny brown colour.
  10. Switch off the flames and garnish your halwa with Almonds and grated coconut.Serve hot.
