Steps to make Chocolate cake:
- This is the ingredients. If you don't have buttermilk, mix milk and vinegar before measuring other ingredients. (Or simply use milk/yogurt.). If you prefer strong cocoa flavour, use baking powder rather than baking soda.
- Spread oil in a cake tin. Preheat oven at 170℃.
- Soften butter with room temperature (or use microwave low power for 1 minute). Put butter and half sugar into a bowl and mix well.
- Add eggs and rest of sugar and mix until smooth.
- Shift flour, cocoa powder and baking powder together into the bowl in two additions, alternating with buttermilk.
- Add hot water bit by bit and mix well.
- Pour the batter into a cake tin. Bake it in the 170℃ oven for 35-40 minutes.
- Check with a stick, if it's dry, it's done! (or touch sponge lightly if it bounce back.) Once it's cooled down, enjoy with your favourite icing!
